About Us

Tommy and Ruth Wilson have owned the farm since 2013. Originally named Silver Hill Farm, Ruth decided to re-name it because Echo Hill -- literally -- has the clearest echo you can imagine! Probably due to the close proximity of granite quarries, and the fact that the farmhouse is located on top of a hill surrounded by pastures and woods, sound carries remarkably well, and anything you call out will come right back to you, often echoing multiple times!

Echo Hill is a residence and a working farm. Tommy and Ruth both have "real jobs" in order to keep up all the animals. Tommy works for the local electric co-op and Ruth works at Oglethorpe County Elementary School. Since they are both employed full time, fun stuff for visitors is limited to weekends, evenings, and summer when Ruth is out of school. Farm visits are available by appointment. We offer riding lessons and overall "farm experiences" where you can tour the farm, meet all the horses, feed the catfish (seasonal) and spend time in the vegetable and flower gardens (also seasonal). Our goal is to offer family fun for a reasonable fee, and to introduce horses to those who might not otherwise get a chance to interact with these amazing creatures!

If you live in the Lexington/Washington/Athens area, Echo Hill can come to you! We occasionally take horses to birthday parties, either for pony rides or for petting. Contact us to discuss!
